Went to visit Jeremy (Andy’s cousin) and Linda in Alpharetta and our friends Cat & Rick not too far away in Kennesaw. Had dinner downtown at the Westin’s Sundial Restaurant – the tallest restaurant in the USA. The glass elevator runs 230m/760ft+ up the outside of the building (very Willy Wonka). The restaurant revolves around and gives you a fantastic view of the city at night. Sadly, our crappy camera doesn’t do it justice.
We can recommend the Georgia Aquarium if you are in the area, a bit ‘disney and kiddi-fied’ - but worth the crowds to see the enormous Whale Shark tank complete with schools of cow-nosed rays and other tropical fish. Neither of us are fans of animals in captivity but apparently these two whale sharks would have been killed as part of the Taiwanese annual quota, had the aquarium not bought them. When they get too big for the tank they will be released again and at least thousands of people will have been educated in the meantime. [No, they are fish… not whales… No, they eat plankton…. not people]. 
They rub up against the tank as they swim around and their sandpaper-skin scratches the Perspex, so they had contractors inside the tank buffing the scratches out. Judging by how long it took to do just one square of the grid stuck to the tank - they were going to be at it for months!
Met up with Heather from Little Cayman and had a very nice lunch in the Ritz Carlton’s Atlanta Grill and I managed to drip my sandwich filling all over the crisp, white linen, too-good-for-the-likes-of-us tablecloth…. (sorry about that.)
