Lissenung Island is beautiful - you can walk around it in about 15 minutes and it has an amazing beach and house reef. Dietmar (from Austria) started the resort 11 years ago and his fiancée, Ange is German originally, but lived in Australia for many years, working in the dive & travel industry.
There are 7 guest cabins handmade from traditional woods and woven wall panels, a thatched restaurant, kitchen and dive shop. 11 people from the neighboring island, Enuk, work here plus a Japanese Instructor- Nozaki and an Aussie cook - Honor.
Two island dogs - Zephyr and Chivas, Nozaki’s cat - Sola and an Eclectus parrot called Shrek, complete the zoo. The staff are used to having temporary managers each summer, so they have been great …patiently answering our stupid questions and showing us how to do things. They have a great sense of humour and are always quick to make a joke.

The girls - Lydia, Maria, Delsie & Rachel
The staff boat comes across from Enuk each morning but if anyone sleeps in and they miss it, they just paddle across in their outrigger canoes. This morning, Rapan's got dropped off by his mum! The Enuk community operates under traditional clan power and two of the staff here, Ban and Tame are ‘bigmen’, so if we have any problems we just ask them and they sort it out on island. There’s also a Peace Officer who acts as a liaison between officialdom and the community.
Fishermen deliver mangrove crab, lobsters and fish almost daily by canoe and the kids love having their photo taken. Especially digital, when they can see the picture immediately (which triggers hoots of laughter).
