Brief trip home then off again

Whilst in Palau, we received emails from the Bahamas and the British Virgin Islands, both looking for managers and wanting to know if we were available (good timing or what?). So, chuffed to bits and freed of any dive-trip-guilt, Palau was a great end to our Asia-Pacific travels and we felt ready for the tortuous flight home via Guam, Cairns, Sydney, Singapore and London.

Back in England, I discovered that I have completely lost the ability to generate body heat. Despite the central heating, 3 layers of clothes and thermal underwear, I could rarely be pried off the radiator long enough to go anywhere. Snow was pretty though....
The job hunting progressed and, whilst flattered to be approached by Musha Cay (David Copperfield’s luxury resort), the BVI operation sounded more ‘us’. The resort is being sold and it’s the new owners who are recruiting - but the sale needs government approval before we can even apply for permits so we had some time to kill.

Andy thought it would be a good time to do his Yachtmaster course but none of the UK schools offered places until the summer (when students can't die of hypothermia). Dave & Adrienne (ex-Little Cayman staff) recommended MPT, a school in Florida. Adrienne was already there, doing her Yachtmaster course and Dave had just finished an Engineering course with them while looking for a new position on a mega-yacht. MPT offer the official RYA course with international commercial endorsement and it’s cheaper than the UK…but to be honest, the thought of sunshine was all I needed to cash in the air miles!
