Saturday

Texas

Back to the warmer climes of Houston, to visit Kris & Renee and their new arrival, Kai who is 3 months old (and last seen on Little Cayman as a bump at minus 3 months old!). Houston is a great city with lots of musuems, parks things to do.

We went to see the Body Worlds 3 exhibition - real dead bodies, plasticized and dissected to varying degrees and in strange poses. i.e. a man with his own skin draped over his shoulder like a coat. They also had cases of organs…. healthy ones next to their respective diseased ones. If you want to give up smoking just see this exhibition (yuk!!)

My favourite exhibit was the massive horse & rider – both with skin removed so you could see inside them.

We had a fantastic Thai buffet lunch in Rice village near the University and Kris cooked us a traditional German meal on Sunday – complete with several types of schnapps (and laughed at our attempts to the pronounce knödel).

‘Rouladen mit Rotkohl und Semmelknödeln’

Schnapps Time!

Our only contribution to the cuisine over the weekend was to try and explain the striking difference between a Crumpet and an English Muffin….but Kris was having none of it!
