Bill's Birthday Party

November was very busy and we hosted groups from all over Europe, Russia, USA, Guam and the film crew from a very famous TV show. Sorry, we can’t say anything else until the show is broadcast in Spring 2008.

Bill had his birthday this month too and his family invited us to their house on Sunday afternoon. A surprise party had been organized for him and two other birthday boys, Bill’s nephew and our ship maintenance manager, Detlef’s youngest son. Bill & Patricia’s house is about 30 minutes from the resort with a fantastic view of the reef.

As with all Yapese events, there was enough food for an army and everyone sat in the garden to watch the piƱata smashing.

The blindfolded kids nearly whacked Bill on numerous occasions!
The two white drums are old chemical containers that have been converted into ice jackets for the beer kegs from our microbrewery. These portable kegs mean that draught cold beer can be taken on the fishing boats and rented for parties etc.

At the side of the house is the pigsty, housing this year’s Staff Christmas Party Dinner - blissfully unaware that her days are numbered.
