This ex-Aussie Navy ship was sunk as an artificial reef in 2005 and sits upright in 27m of water. At 133m long, she is the biggest wreck in Queensland and we booked a two-tank dive with Scuba World in Mooloolaba. They have a brand new 11.5m RIB that can hold 18 divers but luckily there were only 8 of us booked that morning and the weather was absolutely perfect. It’s all very organized, with a specific mooring buoy assigned to the licenced operators, each with its own transit-line down to the wreck.
Visibility was about 30 metres (it’s usually about 15m) so everyone was very chuffed, especially the divemasters.
The 1st dive is to get your bearings and you do a full circuit of the ship then on the 2nd dive you are allowed to penetrate the wreck and swim up ladders and through the decks, engine room etc.
Despite only being down just over 18 months, the ship is covered in oysters, sponges, tunicates & small corals. 
Big octopus, Trevally and snappers have already moved in and down on the sand, Andy found this bizarre looking Shovelnose Ray – about 2m long.
