As our ferry didn’t leave until 3pm we had time to go snorkeling and kayaking before checking out and they let us use our room until 1pm. The snorkeling just outside the resort was incredible but they warned against it in the room brochure (something about currents & bull sharks) - but we went anyway!
The table corals and staghorn formations were definitely the best we have ever seen. It only takes 30mins to kayak across to a little island in the middle of the channel. So we paddled across, beached the kayak and snorkeled around the island for an hour. 
At about 4.15pm we finally pulled away from the Taveuni ferry port – where we had waited for over an hour for hundreds of sacks of cassava root to be loaded. Sunset over Vanua Levu
