We had a fab lunch at one of the cafes directly opposite the main temple and so didn't do Angkor Wat until about 1pm. Great time to see it, as all the big tour groups had gone off for lunch and not too many people were around.
Suprisingly, you can climb all over the temple, including the scariest steps up to the top. A few people were frozen in fear halfway up and having to inch their way back down. There's obviously no Health & Safety agency in Cambodia and the climb down was almost as nerve-racking. Thankfully, the French had put in a tiny metal rail for us (ok, for Sam) to cling onto.
