Dec 15 - Start of Road Trip

We booked our camper online with Campervans.co.au (whom we highly recommend) as their all-inclusive rates actually beat going direct to many of the suppliers. We chose a Maui Spirit as it’s a VW diesel, not too huge to park in towns and it has a toilet & shower. This means we don’t have to stay in campsites every night or go in the bushes and get stung / bitten / eaten by any Australian nasties. We also bought ‘The Guide to Free Camping in WA’ which lists the rest stops, campsites & water fills along major routes.


So, with the van packed of all the essentials, (a case of beer, wine & enough food for an army) we headed north up the Coral Coast to Cervantes - home of the world famous Pinnacles. We decided to stay at a campsite near the Nambung National Park for the 1st night so that we could see the Pinnacles in the early evening (as per all the tourist blurb).

Thousands of limestone pinnacles jut out of the sand, some over 4 metres high and stretch over the horizon.
