Sea Dragons & Cathedral Caves

The Weedy Sea Dragon has been on our wish-list of marine creatures for ages, and Waterfall Bay is one of the best places to see them. One of the instructors with her two O/W students found one for us within the first 15 minutes!

He was much bigger than we expected - 30cm long and utterly captivating. He seemed agreeable to photography and slowly buzzed around the seaweed on almost transparent pectoral fins.

Cathedral Caves was an interesting dive, with a series of passageways through multiple caverns. Several crayfish (very similar to Caribbean spiny lobster) sat on ledges and the roof was covered in colourful anemones. Several big snapper and this Longsnout Boarfish came to investigate our bubbles.
