By 6pm thousands of people were in position around Darling Harbour for the "Australia Day Spectacular" so we nabbed a table at one of the over-priced restaurants. We ordered a 3 course dinner and wine to see if we could stretch it out until the fireworks, but their service was very speedy and we were given the bums-rush once the plates were clean. 
So we took up position on the bridge instead and watched the procession of boats and various bands playing on the floating stage in the harbour. 
The fireworks were excellent but they definitely hold something back for their famous New Year's display.
After the firework finale an F15 fighter bomber did a low level buzz over the harbour and a fuel burn-off. Very cool!
