At Shenzen we boarded a train to Hong Kong and got through immigration and customs quickly. The difference between mainland China and this Special Administrative Region was incredible. No shoving and pushing, no smoking, and due to the SARS outbreak in 2003 - no spitting!
Staying in Kowloon, not far from the Temple Street night market (where you can buy all manner of tat).
Plastic wind-up Nemo anyone?
Had dinner at a great open-air seafood restaurant in the market and walked to the waterfront to look at the skyline. Every night at 8pm there's a free lightshow set to music and the skyscrapers pulsate with light & flash lasers - Pretty cool.
Tried to go to the Felix Bar on the 28th floor of the Peninsula Hotel, but Andy's shorts & sandals didn't meet the dress code. We were even shoo'ed off the carpet in the bar/restaurant in the lobby! No matter - we went to Mon Amis on Ashley Road instead which sold wine by the glass and we had a great time.
