We arrived just in time to see the end of the Juryo bouts (the second highest division) and the start of the Makunouchi bouts (the top division). This meant we got to see the doyo-iri or "entering the ring " ceremony. The competitors enter the ring in reverse order of their rank, wearing kesho-mawashi (ceremonial aprons).
We can see why Jen's mum is a huge Sumo fan (no pun intended) - it's really interesting and fun to watch.
